Climate Change & Sustainable Development Advisory

Climate Change & Sustainable Development Advisory

Excellence Rooted in Advocacy

Climate change, environmental sustainability, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance are now central to how governments, businesses, and investors operate globally. At Hansen Advocates, our Climate Change & Environmental Law practice provides forward-thinking legal and policy advisory services to help clients navigate environmental regulation, sustainability obligations, and climate-related risk.

We support corporates, developers, investors, non-governmental organisations, and public sector stakeholders in understanding and complying with Kenya’s environmental legal framework, including climate change regulations, environmental impact assessment requirements, and sustainability reporting obligations. Our goal is to ensure that development and economic growth are achieved in a manner that is legally compliant, environmentally responsible, and future-focused.

Our services include environmental and climate change compliance advisory, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) support, regulatory approvals, ESG compliance frameworks, sustainability policy development, carbon credit and climate finance advisory, and climate-related risk management. We also advise on environmental licensing, natural resource governance, land use and planning compliance, and regulatory engagement with environmental authorities.

We have experience advising clients in sectors with significant environmental impact, including real estate development, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and land-based investments. Our advisory ensures that projects are structured in compliance with environmental laws from inception, reducing regulatory risk and enhancing project sustainability and investor confidence.

In an era where ESG compliance is increasingly influencing investment decisions, financing structures, and corporate reputation, we help businesses align their operations with both local environmental regulations and global sustainability standards. This includes advising on green financing structures, sustainability-linked investments, and climate risk disclosure obligations.

At Hansen Advocates, we recognise that climate change is not only a legal and regulatory issue but also a business and governance priority. We therefore provide practical, commercially aware, and solution-driven legal guidance that supports sustainable development while ensuring full compliance with environmental and climate change laws.

Whether you are a developer, investor, corporate entity, or organisation committed to sustainability, we deliver tailored environmental legal solutions that protect your projects, enhance compliance, and support long-term environmental responsibility.
