Hansen Omido, CPM
Founding Partner

Hansen Omido, CPM, is the Founding Partner of Hansen Advocates LLP and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution, real estate and project financing, banking and financial services, succession and estate planning, mediation, public policy development, and legal research. He combines strong legal acumen with strategic commercial insight to deliver practical, commercially sound, and high-impact legal solutions to businesses, investors, financial institutions, and individuals.

As the Founding Partner of Hansen Advocates LLP, Hansen provides strategic leadership and direction to the firm, championing a culture of professional excellence, integrity, innovation, and client-focused service. His vision is anchored in building a progressive legal practice that goes beyond conventional legal representation to create lasting value for clients, institutions, and the wider community.

Hansen has built a diverse and impactful legal career, having worked with leading law firms, including MAK & Partners Advocates LLP, Mosioma & Co. Advocates, and Ashitiva Advocates LLP. These experiences have enabled him to develop deep expertise in corporate advisory, real estate transactions, dispute resolution, and financial sector legal services, establishing him as a trusted legal advisor and strategic partner to a diverse clientele.

His experience includes leading the restructuring of companies with a combined asset base exceeding Kshs. 800 million, developing and advising on family trust structures holding assets worth over USD 20 million, and overseeing complex real estate and development projects valued at more than Kshs. 3 billion. Notably, he structured and provided legal oversight for a Kshs. 400 million residential development project for Kenya Airways staff, supporting regulatory compliance, transaction efficiency, risk mitigation, and effective project execution.

In banking and financial services, Hansen has extensive experience in the perfection of securities, structuring of transactions, and advising on complex commercial arrangements. His work has involved leading financial institutions, including KCB Bank, Kingdom Bank, Victoria Commercial Bank, UNFCU, and UNSACCO. He also advises and represents financial institutions in commercial transactions, recovery proceedings, and complex disputes, bringing together legal precision, commercial awareness, and a practical understanding of financial risk.

Beyond commercial practice, Hansen is committed to access to justice, human rights, and public interest advocacy. He has provided pro bono legal representation in matters involving gender-based violence, discrimination against persons living with HIV, and other vulnerable groups. This commitment reflects his conviction that the law should serve not only as an instrument of commercial certainty but also as a means of protecting rights, promoting fairness, and advancing social justice.

Hansen also contributes to sports governance and institutional development. He serves as Chairman of Stingers Rugby Club and Secretary to the Kenya Rugby Union Constitution Review Committee, roles through which he contributes to governance reform, institutional strengthening, and policy development within Kenyan rugby.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), a Postgraduate Diploma in Law, and a Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy. He is also a Certified Professional Mediator (CPM), complementing his legal practice with expertise in negotiation, conflict resolution, and alternative dispute resolution.

Away from the boardroom, courtroom, and demands of legal practice, Hansen has a creative side that may surprise many: he is a skilled rapper with a passion for music and lyrical expression. This distinctive blend of legal intellect, strategic thinking, leadership, and creativity reflects a personality that is as dynamic as it is grounded.

For Hansen, building a successful legal practice is about more than transactions, disputes, or professional recognition. It is about building institutions, cultivating meaningful relationships, and creating enduring value. Through his leadership at Hansen Advocates LLP, he continues to pursue a vision of legal practice defined by excellence, integrity, innovation, and lasting impact.
